Context
Maison Garonne does not exist: it is a fictional agency in Mérignac, created to show in practice the site I can build for a real-estate agency. The listings and their photos are examples. The site itself is complete: an enquiry sent from the demo really arrives by email and in the back office. The demo is in French.
Challenges
- Present properties as well as the big portals do, but on the agency’s own site: photos, map, energy rating, and a search that finds “merignac” typed without its accent, or a postcode.
- Let the agency publish and update its listings itself, without going through a developer.
- Meet an agency’s obligations: fee schedule displayed (required by French law), legal notice, visitors’ data protected.
What was built
Listings and search
Sales and rentals, filters (property type, budget, surface area, rooms), detail pages with photo gallery, map, energy and emissions ratings, amenities, and a monthly payment calculator on properties for sale.
Agency back office
Secure agent area: creating and editing listings with photo upload, status (draft, online, sold, rented), “featured” highlighting, and an inbox for contact and valuation requests.
Online valuation
A step-by-step form for owners who want to sell (property type, address, surface area, condition): the request arrives by email and in the back office.
Adaptable to your agency
Name, logo, contact details, opening hours and fee schedule: the agency’s whole identity lives in a single configuration file.
Under the hood
- Agent area protected on the server (every action checks the session) and public sign-up disabled: only accounts created for the agency can log in.
- Forms protected against spam without a captcha (honeypot field and minimum delay), visitor input escaped before being emailed, drafts never visible to the public.
- Accent-insensitive and case-insensitive search directly in the database, with automated tests (Vitest).
- WCAG AA contrast, light and dark mode, no analytics cookies (so no cookie banner), and the demo excluded from Google results.
